Payment In Blood
David Sydeham! He ultimately killed Joy, Gowan, and Hannah back in 1973.
David had an affair with Hannah but when she decided to leave town with him, he killed her and made it look like suicide. Joy found this out. Gowan knew that his gloves were not at the registration desk.
We also find that Geoffrey had been a Russian spy who was killed by his father. Stuart turned him in to MI5. It has been hushed since as he worked in the Ministry of Defense.

A Suitable Vengeance
Roderick Trenarrow, mum's boyfriend. He shoots himself at the end.
He snuck out of the performance and argued with Mick, hit him, and he fell and died. He pushed Justin over the cliff, but not before Justin had provided Peter/Sasha with the fatal drug combination. Roddy was trying to save Peter by offing Justin. Unfortunately he was too late, and Sasha took the fatal dose.
The big secret of the book is that Mick was a cross dresser. He had a scam going where Justin, who worked at a drug company, stole oncozyme, a cancer drug. Justin was paid first in cash then in cocaine. Mark was dealing. Mick gave the drug to Dr. Trenarrow, who had a faux clinic set up for patients. Some lived, till the supply ran out. Trenarrow finally tested the supply and found it to be fake. That is what was argued about. Then Justin got paranoid that Mick had talked to Peter (Peter was buying from Mick).

For the Sake of Elena
Sarah Gordon, the artist.
Anthony's wife Justine found out about their affair, and required Anthony to cut up Sarah's painting of Elena in front of Sarah. That put Sarah in a mental block and could not paint, so she killed Elena (Anthony's creation). She also shot Georgina because she had seen Sarah; Sarah mistook Georgina for Rosalyn.

Missing Joseph
Juliet Spence did it, and did it on purpose.
Mrs. Spence was really the vicar's wife Susanna. She did not throw herself off a boat 12 years previously. She jumped, assumed a new identity, and stole a baby she read about in her sister's social services files. That child is Maggie, really Tracey Joan, daughter of Sheelah Yanapapoulis. The vicar found her out and threatened to return the child to her mother.

Playing for the Ashes
Mrs. Miriam Whitelaw, but the death of Ken was accidental.
She thought that he was on his way to Greece with his son, and that Gabriella was on her own in the cottage. Miriam had set up her alibi to make it look like she was at home. But she was not. Olivia had finally gone to visit her mother and found her not at home until the wee hours of the morning. Olivia knew she had done it, but kept her mouth shut for her own protection.
Miriam didn't want Gabriella to marry Ken. Miriam had her own plans for Ken.

In The Presence Of The Enemy
DC Robin Payne.
His mother was a prostitute way back when, and she tells her son that she was raped by Dennis Luxford. The whole thing is his revenge on his mother's behalf. Eve was never the target. Robin used Celia to get to Luxford's financial records. He used Havers to keep tabs on the investigation.
Eve's political career is essentially over, and Alex leaves her.

Deception on His Mind
Yumn Malik! Simply to fill her superiority complex.
This is convoluted and complex. Sahlah is pregnant and was having an affair with Theo. It is not Theo's child, though.
Mahannad, a school chum, and Klaus run an immigration scam; Kumhar is a victim of their scheme. Mahannad gets away after taking Hadiyyah hostage. Havers ultimately gets into a lot of trouble when she saves the child.
Trevor nicks things to sell for money. He saw Querashi and Hegarty together at the Clacton Market Square. They were involved.

In Pursuit of the Proper Sinner
Matthew King-Ryder, to avenge his father’s suicide.
Nicola was setting herself up in prostitution with partner Vi Nevin. She told her father about these plans, and he bribed her to work back in Derbyshire for the summer. Ultimately the murder had nothing to do with her.
Terry set out their advert cards for money. Vi was afraid of her old ‘maid’ Shelly, so she sent Terry out to Nic where she was camping to show her the threatening letters Shelly had sent. Matthew had been following Terry and did them both in.
Chapter 30 spells the whole thing out.
Ultimately Nic's lovers were Julian Britton, Wil Upman (once), customer Adrian Beattie, Mr. Postcard Christian-Louis the chef, and presumably at some point Martin Reeve.

A Traitor to Memory
Richard Davies, to keep Gideon's mother from telling him what she believed to be the truth. Richard felt that if Gideon really believed he killed Sonia, he would not play anymore.
The truth is that Gideon drowned Sonia in the bathtub. Richard swears that he actually did it. Who knows? They paid off Katja to take the rap, thinking it might be a couple years in prison. She turned up 20 years later at his performance demanding the money she was owed for her service. That, and trying to play The Archduke, brought back the suppressed memories of what he had done.
Raphael was the father of Katja's baby.
I am upset about this book. We never learn exactly why Richard went after Webberly or Katie. And we do not learn if Richard was really pushed in front of the bus, or not. This is quite unlike Ms. George to leave so many questions unanswered. I also saw the "Gideon drowned his sister in the bathtub" twist coming about halfway through the book. This is my least favorite of the books.

With No One As Witness
Robbie Kilfoyle. What a nut job. Only - - -
He didn't kill Davey Benton. That was (gasp) the profiler Hamish Robson. Another sick puppy.
Some young punk, 12, shoots Helen. The shot hits her heart, and she bleeds out internally. Her brain is without oxygen for >20 minutes and thus is brain dead. Lynley pulls the plug on his wife and baby. Quits the police force.
